A singular visual universe shaped by memory, imagination and an instinctive language of colour, pattern and symbol.
An Imagined World invites visitors into the singular and captivating universe of Mary Shalizi.
Created instinctively, Shalizi’s works unfold through vivid colour, intricate patterns, recurring symbols and unexpected encounters. Figures, animals, architectural forms and imagined beings inhabit compositions that seem to exist somewhere between memory, imagination and inner experience.
There is no fixed narrative to these works. Their stories remain deliberately open, inviting each viewer to enter this world and interpret its characters, symbols and relationships for themselves.
Bringing together a selection of works on paper, An Imagined World offers a rare glimpse into an intensely personal visual language developed by the artist over many years.
